Description Rod Taylor 2001-08-02 15:06:49 UTC
I'd like to request that the message 'Searching of Icon' be removed from
the bookmark creation process.

It's nice that an icon is searched for, but telling the user (especially on
a slow loading website) simply gets in the way.

Making this a transparent process shouldn't be a big deal.
Comment 1 Ricardo Fernández Pascual 2001-08-02 15:24:34 UTC
I agree with this.

Yaneti: would you mind if that dialog is removed?
Comment 2 Yanko Kaneti 2001-08-02 15:52:46 UTC
i have no problem if the dialog is removed, given that:
- there is another form of feedback
- the user is able to stop the proccess of downloading the icon somehow
- and there is a size restriction on the downloaded file size

also i dont claim the current setup works on all accounts, i've been
reluctant to fix it for no apparent reason :( being lazy i guess
Comment 3 Rod Taylor 2001-08-04 19:28:05 UTC
If necessary, make it an option in the preferences to set the max
bookmark icon size with default to 20kb otherwise hardcode 50kb?

Cancelling the process isn't important provided NO feedback occurs.
If it tells you the download failed thats not any better. This should
be a transparent 'get it if you can -- otherwise skip it' process.
Just let it timeout in the background after the normal length of time
(a minute?) and give up.

The dialog has been removed in HEAD, but there is no proper timeout
yet, i couldnt figure out how to do it with gnome-vfs.
Comment 11 Jorn Baayen 2001-10-14 20:55:39 UTC
fixed!
