GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 583362
Computer shuts down when either of two batteries hits critical level
Last modified: 2009-05-25 11:54:33 UTC
Please describe the problem: Whenever either of the two batteries installed in my computer hits critical level, regardless of the direction, gnome-power-manager shuts down the computer. I've observed it in the following situations: 1. Battery #2 drains to 1%, when battery #1 is full. The computer shuts down, saying battery level is critical. 2. Battery #2 is removed, battery #1 is fully drained, battery #2 is added, and then the computer is plugged in to charge battery #1. When battery #1 reaches 1% charge, despite the fact that the computer is plugged in, the computer shuts down saying the battery level is critical. Steps to reproduce: 1. Use a laptop with two batteries. 2. Drain either battery to 1% Actual results: The computer shuts down. Expected results: Unless *both* batteries are critical *and* the computer is not plugged in, gpm should not shut the computer down. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: Tried with: gpm 2.26.1-0ubuntu3 from ubuntu jaunty repos. gpm 2.26.1 compiled from source gpm 2.27.1 compiled from source DBus version 1.2.14-2ubuntu5 HAL version 0.5.12+git20090512-0ubuntu2 Kernel version 2.6.20-5 Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10 (Jaunty) Alpha Raw ACPI Information: /proc/acpi/battery/C1F2/alarm present: no /proc/acpi/battery/C1F2/info present: no /proc/acpi/battery/C1F2/state present: no /proc/acpi/battery/C1F3/alarm alarm: unsupported /proc/acpi/battery/C1F3/info present: yes design capacity: 2464 mAh last full capacity: 2464 mAh battery technology: rechargeable design voltage: 14400 mV design capacity warning: 124 mAh design capacity low: 25 mAh capacity granularity 1: 100 mAh capacity granularity 2: 100 mAh model number: Primary serial number: 00169 2007/07/12 battery type: LIon OEM info: Hewlett-Packard /proc/acpi/battery/C1F3/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charging present rate: 3226 mA remaining capacity: 1496 mAh present voltage: 16807 mV /var/log/messages logs nothing regarding gpm. Just realized that I mixed up the codenames. I'm using Karmic, not Jaunty.
