GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 580266
Zoom level > 100% results in extraneous horizontal space
Last modified: 2010-09-17 18:38:39 UTC
Please describe the problem: In Compact and Icon views, with zoom level > 100%, icon canvas is allocated more space than necessary along the horizontal axis. This creates a blank area to the right of the icons and the horizontal scrollbar appears. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a Nautilus window, set to Compact or Icon View. 2. Change zoom level to greater than 100%. 3. Notice the horizontal scrollbar showing. Actual results: Extraneous white space appears. Expected results: Canvas should be scaled down according to its pixels_per_unit property. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:

The same here, nautilus 2.26.2. Note that while zooming canvas gets enlarged more then necessary (maximum canvas size should be window width!) and while view is focused in the center of the canvas, useful contents (icons) is moving to the left and disappearing out of view as canvas grows. This is clearly wrong behavior.
Horizontal scrollbar doesn't appear anymore, but the white space is bug #552093. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 552093 ***
