GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 579956
Resize produces pixelation
Last modified: 2009-05-21 18:37:08 UTC
Please describe the problem: Since GIMP 2.6 resizing images produces slight pixelation, no matter which interpolation method is used. I don't know if it's supposed to be a feature since the resulting image is a bit sharper, but I really don't like the ragged edges. I attached three images, one is the original, one resized with GIMP 2.6.6 and one with ImageMagick 6.5 to show the difference of the resizing output with almost the same interpolation method. Steps to reproduce: Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:

Sure, the scaling can be improved and we are aware of the issues. This is already handled in other bug reports. Fortunately there is a good chance that we will get an improved resampler for GIMP 2.8. There is someone working on this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 553390 ***
