the bug has been opened on https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/359145

"while editing a python file (.py) I set the the indent to 4 spaces. After editing, I saved it (ctrl+s). Immediatly the indenting option went back to the original, (8 spaces, using tabs). I can reproduce this each time. If you need any more information, please let me know. I would imagine this as being a very annoying bug."
