GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 578489
please make it visible (at first sight) when a character has been substituted from another font
Last modified: 2009-04-12 20:45:29 UTC
Hi, if I view a font in gucharmap that is missing some glyphs (mostly from uncommon unicode blocks) these characters are substituted [1] from another font that provides these glyphs (Dejavu sans in most cases). For the user this leaves the impression that the selected font *does* actually contain the specific glyphs. Only by right-clicking on the glyph and zooming into it I learn (from the subscript of the popup window) that it has been taken from another font. It would be really nice if this information could be made more obvious, e.g. in the status bar or by a small label in the character table. Cheers, Fabian [1] This is a fontconfig feature, right?
