GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 575731
Make it easier to burn an audio / video disk
Last modified: 2018-09-21 16:33:09 UTC
Before my distro of choice ditched serpentine in favour of brasero, it was dead easy to make an audio cd. When you inserted a blank cd you got a dialogue asking you whether you wanted to create a data or audio cd. Now you only get the option to open the folder, open the cd creator (incidentally, both options do the same), "use another application" or do nothing. An easy option to make an audio cd isn't even there, and I consider that a regression. Please, add two options to this menu: "create audio disk", which would launch "brasero -a" and "create video disk", which would launch "brasero -o". This would simplify things a whole lot for newcomers. Other information:

It isn't a regression by GNOME because GNOME neved had an application for burning Audiocd's. Media players are the ones that use most of this option i'm not sure if we aren't adding too much options just to burn a CD/DVD. But i tent to agree that it would be good to have that option.
Luis, my distro (ubuntu) used to offer me the option I mentioned before and now doesn't. I originally sent the bug to launchpad but they told me to send it upstream: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/344413 Anyway, do you think something like what I propose in my mockup could be added now that Brasero is officially a part of gnome, and used to burn audiocd's?
Yes, sounds good. We actually have some mess on our desktop files i will fix it for 2.27.x.
