Last modified: 2009-02-11 09:41:33 UTC
Bug redirected from Launchpad : "Empathy 2.25.4 The empathy / telepathy status 'connected' icon (a green circle) is not unique. See attached suggestion mockup" see launchpad https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/325216 for more details. Other information:
Person who reported it attached a mockup, here is the link : http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21974170/empathy_status_ready.png Have a nice day.
mark it as an enhancement.
I don't know where that icon with the green circle and empathy logo on top of it comes from, but it is not empathy's fault. Probably some ubuntu's fault. Closing.
I guess this particular icon *is* the mockup, to distinguish it from whatever the other green circle is.
Yes, the attached image was of a possible solution. So please reopen.
I don't understand why it is not unique, which program is using it too?
I, for one, find the proposed replacement horribly ugly.
I aggree with daf. This is clearly not an empathy bug, but the other applications that uses the same icon... I guess this is ubuntu's fast user switch applet? I think it's an ubuntu patch that does that.
@Dafydd: I agree that the proposal is horribly ugly, but I thought an idea is better than nothing. No offence taken, for sure. @Xavier: I think this is an empathy bug. For what it's worth the ekiga icon when connected is nearly identical, just a bit smaller. I have reported the same bug to them also because there is nothing application unique about a green circle. An yes, this is also the same as the ubuntu fast switch applet. So, anyone with just a green circle is a victim of this problem, it's just not a meaningful application icon.
