Description Otto Kekäläinen 2009-02-05 06:20:21 UTC
This is a usability bug:
When users copy files from a CD or DVD to their own folders on the hard drive, they expect the files to remain "normal". However in Gnome, the files copied from a read-only media to the hard drive maintain their read-only attributes.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Copy a few files from a read only media to you home directory.
2. Try to edit any of the files you just copied.
=> Error: file is read-only

Fix:
- Automatically make files read-write when they are copied from a read-only media to a hard drive (read-write-media).
- Make it easier for novice users to change the attributes for a file/folder.
