GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 570145
Feature request: import to auto-named sub-folders
Last modified: 2009-02-02 07:31:50 UTC
When we import photos from camera, we have only the option to do it to a single folder. If I don't manually change anything, all photos go to ~/Photos. In the end we get lots and lots of photos in one single folder. This way, it is a insane job to find any photo with a file manager (like Nautilus). The program that comes with my camera (Canon PowerShot A400) - only for Windows - gives me the option to automatically generate sub-folders with dates of shoot as names and import right photos directly to them. It takes the date from exif info. It would be great if F-Spot could do it too. It could give the option to name folders as date of shoot, date of import, etc. With this very useful feature, F-spot would not only manage photos within, but it would help us to organize our photos in our disk. It would be a big step forward. It would free us to chose the better way to manage our photos. Please.
