it would be quite useful to be able to highlight occurrences of a string in the gnome-terminal buffer, without having to copy-paste its whole buffer contents into an editor such as 'emacs' or 'gedit', or have the foresight to pipe it in advance to eg. 'less', specially with buffers with thousand of lines. that's even more useful when the contents of the buffer are constantly being updated with new lines being appended periodically, which makes it difficult to copy-paste the updated contents of the buffer. a new 'find/highlight' option under the edit menu, opening a dialog where one could type the string to find/highlight and press OK, would do it quite well. from then on, any occurrence of this string in the buffer would show up eg. with a yellow background customizable in each profile.
