reading HTML email, I'm seeing the old "Formatting message(...)" hang in the preview pane. Distribution: Fedora release 10 (Cambridge) Gnome Release: 2.24.2 2008-11-25 (Red Hat, Inc) BugBuddy Version: 2.24.2
Does this happen with one specific email?
I had seen this with only one particular email (sent repeatedly, spam-ish), but today it occurred with a new email (also a sales pitch). I opened the source of the email, I'll attach a portion of the message.

I have the same problem. OS: Linux (debian testing), version: evolution 2.22.3.1-1 evolution-common 2.22.3.1-1 evolution-data-server 2.22.3-1.1 evolution-data-server-common 2.22.3-1.1 evolution-exchange 2.22.3.dfsg-1 evolution-plugins 2.22.3.1-1 evolution-webcal 2.21.92-1 I am using exchange connector only, no other accounts. It happens only, when incoming e-mail is in HTML. Often with anchors with images as a content (but not only that). But not all such e-mail hangs preview pane. I suspect e-mail with broken syntax. And, when I this message delete, in "deleted" directory is displayed OK without error. Only evolution --force-shutdown and restart application helps. Closing and reopen preview pane does not help. I have one message, I try to upload it. (and, according to w3c checker it is invalid). Regards, Vladimir

Message attached in comment#5 renders properly in 2.28.c. I don't get 'formatting message ..' in status bar Could you please confirm if this bug is still happening at your end ? Please try in 2.28.x or later and report back, thanks.

Sorry, it happened 10min ago. But in this version it is more occasional. I am using microsoft exchange as a mail server. It may influence...
Next time if you find any such mail, could you please disable preview pane on start up i.e. start evolution from terminal by command "evolution --disable-preview" and save the message, remove confidential information and attach in bug here, thanks.
Until now I haven't such problem. But I received upgrade. If e-mail has "bad" subject (I suspect encoding), it is displayed as a new e-mail in a tree (bold number), but in a list of messages this e-mail is missing. Is it a diferent bug?
Different bug I'd say.

I try to install gtkhtml debug info and then will send result.
