GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 566450
Paste from Firefox doesn't work properly
Last modified: 2009-01-12 17:09:23 UTC
Please describe the problem: If I copy some text from Firefox and I paste it in gedit, the cursor isn't moved to the end of the file and I don't see the pasted text. Steps to reproduce: 1. In gedit, open a new file and write enough text to make the right scrollbar appear. 2. Copy some text in a web page from Firefox, for example http://live.gnome.org/Gedit 3. In gedit, put the cursor to the end of the file (say it's the line 7) and paste the previous copied paragraphs. Actual results: The cursor stays to the line 7 and the scrollbar doesn't move, so we don't see the pasted paragraphs. Expected results: The cursor should move to the end of the file and we should see the pasted paragraphs, as it's done for example when I copy/paste from a gedit text file. Does this happen every time? Yes. Other information:
Created attachment 125709 [details] The file before I paste some text from Firefox Screenshot 1 of 3: The situation before pasting text.
Created attachment 125710 [details] The file after I pasted some paragraphs copied from a web page Screenshot 2 of 3: I put the cursor to the line 7 and I pasted some paragraphs copied from http://live.gnome.org/Gedit We see that the cursor is still to the line 7 and we don't see the pasted text (the scrollbar didn't move).
Created attachment 125712 [details] The view if I move the scrollbar to the bottom of the file Screenshot 3 of 3: If I move the scrollbar to the bottom of the file, I see the pasted text, but I see also a part of the gray highlighting of the previous "current line" (line 7) in addition to the whole gray highlighting of the current "current line" (line 15).

I confirm this... very strange. I also reproduced it it gtk-demo so it is a gtktextview bug.
