How long can I expect for it to become finished?
Within 10 years?
I'd like to help if I can & if you'll allow me.
The only thing I need to know then is how long the manual has been translated so I don't have to translate the same text again.

The GIMP doc team has worked for a couple of months converting the documentation to gettext. The stats for the Swedish translation is 2% (guestimation). We are waiting for the doc team to finalize the gettext transition and enabling the stats over at l10n.gnome.org. You are more than welcome joining our small but strong force. Download some of the PO files, translate and submit to me.

I have now built a PDF document of the complete documentation.
We are not talking about 650 pages.. it's up to 801 pages now.
