Reference is made to Bug 131793: noting historical changes and current status = reopened.
It is my belief this menu should read "Create New Document", with the resulting action being an open document of that type ready for editing. This option would add polish and increase functionality in this regard.
Alternatively, if no for reasons beyond this scope, then the ability to add "launchers" to the menu with the same result would be an improvement also.
