It's not really specific to glib.
Please update config.guess and config.sub from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/config/ every time a new release is cut.
config.guess and config.sub are maintained very carefully, so they can be
considered stable at any given point of time.
They change more often than Autoconf. On the other hand, their interface
doesn't change, so it's safe to update them.
