Description BKJ 2008-12-01 22:07:54 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When opening up evolution the left hand window view settings are not being obeyed and all mail accounts are being opened in the down position. I only have one account set up in evolution and do not use the built-in "On This Computer". Previous versions of evolution would obey my settings and keep the built-in "On This Computer" closed. I prefer the old way of keeping the built-in "On This Computer" closed and out of my workspace. Current version opens it up in the down/viewing position.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install latest version of evolution.
2. Open up evolution and the "On this computer" carrot will always open in the down position.

Actual results:
The "On this computer" always opens up in the down position.

Expected results:
I would expect that evolution would obey my previous view settings and not auto open the "On This Computer".

Does this happen every time?
yes

Comment 1 Matthew Barnes 2008-12-01 22:51:11 UTC
I can reproduce this on Evolution 2.25.2.

Expanded states for folders in accounts are stored in:

   $HOME/.evolution/mail/config/folder-tree-expand-state.xml

Can you check whether that file looks correct after closing Evolution?
Comment 2 BKJ 2008-12-01 23:35:25 UTC
Yes, after closing evolution the file looks correct. Here are the
settings after closing:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<tree-state>
  <node name="local" expand="false">
    <node name="Drafts" expand="false"/>
    <node name="Sent" expand="false"/>
  <node name="personal" expand="true"><node name="Inbox"
expand="false"/></node></node>
  <node name="vfolder" expand="false"/>
  <selected uri="exchange://XXXXXX;auth=Basic@XXXXXX/personal/Inbox"/>
  <node name="1228042417.4640.23@hom" expand="true">
    <node name="personal" expand="true">
      <node name="Inbox" expand="true">
        <node name="OSSEC" expand="true"/>
        <node name="MICROSOFT" expand="true"/>
        <node name="MAIL LISTS" expand="true"/>
        <node name="Local Security" expand="true"/>
        <node name="LINUX" expand="true">
          <node name="FEDORA" expand="true"/>
        </node>
        <node name="WSUS FORUM" expand="true"/>
      </node>
      <node name="Saved E-mail" expand="true">
        <node name="Archive" expand="true">
          <node name="Saved E-mail" expand="true">
            <node name="Realestate Stuff" expand="true"/>
          </node>
        </node>
      </node>
    </node>
  </node>
</tree-state>

But once I reopen evolution the following is back to true:

<node name="local" expand="true">
Comment 3 BKJ 2008-12-01 23:36:43 UTC
By the way I am using the following version:

evolution 2.24.2-1
evolution-data-server 2.24.2-1
evolution-exchange 2.24.2-1
Comment 4 BKJ 2008-12-01 23:42:49 UTC
In addition, the message preview window does not even retain its settings and obey my previous position of it.
Comment 5 Matthew Barnes 2008-12-02 14:15:53 UTC
Looks like this is a side-effect of the patch for bug #552583.
Comment 6 Matthew Barnes 2008-12-04 15:56:45 UTC
Fixed by the patch for bug #552583.

Comment 8 BKJ 2009-01-20 21:45:03 UTC
As of today, with the following version of evolution this bug is not resolved.

evolution 2.24.3-1
evolution-data-server 2.24.3-1
evolution-exchange 2.24.3-1

Still have the same issue as initially reported.

Comment 9 Milan Bouchet-Valat 2009-01-21 09:51:51 UTC
For me it's been fixed in 2.24.3, though (in Ubuntu). Strange.
Comment 10 BKJ 2009-01-21 15:49:33 UTC
I am using Arch Linux.
Comment 11 Milan Crha 2010-10-07 10:35:18 UTC
Thanks for a bug report. Could you retest with latest stable, please? It's either 2.32.0 (a very fresh version) or the 2.30.3. Thanks in advance.

Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided.
Please feel free to reopen the bug if the problem still occurs with a newer
version of GNOME 2.32.0 or later, thanks.
