'Save As' causes a message window with strange characters for path of current file
Last modified: 2009-08-19 17:27:20 UTC
Please describe the problem: funny character displayed by gedit message window about the file already existing. This window contains strange characters. These strange characters seem to change each time the 'Save As' menu item is selected for the file. My current directory is /home/wt/Desktop I created an empty text file using the method defined below: 1. right click mouse button on Desktop 2. select Create Document>Empty File 3. name the empty file 'test.txt' Once the empty file is created, left click on 'test.txt'. Gedit will be loaded for the file. enter something in file. select File>Save As...using the same file name. click Save A message window pops up with the message below. What's not shown for '&i.txt' is a number of strange characters that could not be entered here. A file named "\Uffffffff\u0612(`S" already exists. Do you want to replace it? The file already exists in "Desktop". Replacing it will overwrite its contents. NOTE: the strange characters seem to change each time the "Save As" feature is used. Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
