GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 561380
Sort using MusicBrainz sortname tag when available
Last modified: 2009-01-23 00:54:22 UTC
The music library browser should sort artists using the MusicBrainz sortname tag when available. This would avoid the current situation where all the artists starting with "The" are sorted under "T". Banshee could implement its own heuristic, but the MusicBrainz sortname is a reliable piece of information that already deals with hundreds of strange edge cases.
This bug is a duplicate of Bug 499650. PS, what do I have to do to get the ability to mark bugs as duplicates? I'd like to help out in that way if possible.
Actually this bug would be a duplicate of comment #6 on bug #499650, rather than a duplicate of the whole bug. There seems to be no interest for MusicBrainz-specific tags on that bug report. But yes, both bugs are asking for the same feature, more or less.
By your interpretation, Gioele, has this been fixed by a recent commit for a bug filed against taglib-sharp? http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=567657
Bug #499650 includes parsing the artist sort name (aka the musicbrainz artist sort name). Closing this as a dupe. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 499650 ***
