Description Kandepu Prasad 2008-11-11 12:00:14 UTC
Please describe the problem:
In composer preferences when 'Start typing at the bottom on replying' is enabled then keeping the signature above the original message does not seem to make any sense to me. I feel this option should be disable automatically and keep the signature at the bottom when 'Start typing at the bottom on replying' is enabled.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?

While trying to understand Bug 620255 , i realized that the signature option is not really related to "Top posting" and does not control the top/bottom posting.

Why not remove the option to place sign separately ?
Just keeping the signature position dependent on the option 'Start typing at the bottom on replying' should be good as well.

Or if the option is being widely used , we can keep the two options together as:

[ ] Start typing at the bottom on replying
[ ] Keep signature above the original message on replying

So it would be easier for user to realize the enable/disabling of the signature option depends on the above option.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new bug report ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
