Description Donald Broatch 2008-11-10 17:24:25 UTC
Incorrect translation
Application: brasero

Incorrect text:
In British English, the word has only a rather inappropriate and comic meaning in this context:

to direct (the libido) toward an infantile form of gratification
to focus or concentrate one's gaze or attention intently or obsessively
to undergo arrestment at a stage of development

It seems the word can have the desired meaning in American English, but only as a Transitive verb:

transitive verb 1 : to make fixed, stationary, or unchanging

Should be:
I believe Windows says something like 'finalising the disk'. 'Fixating the disk' might be OK in AE (I don't know, I'm British), but 'fixating' raises a giggle every time I see it.
Comment 1 Philip Withnall 2008-11-10 17:47:19 UTC
I would agree with changing all occurrences of "fixate" in the en_GB Brasero translation to "finalise"

If nobody else's got any comments, I'll do that in a few days.
Comment 2 Bastien Nocera 2008-11-10 18:16:29 UTC
I'd rather brasero said "finalising" instead.
Comment 3 Philippe Rouquier 2008-11-10 21:12:55 UTC
Thanks. Fixed in SVN trunk. It was an old string copied from cdrecord.
