GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 560019
Menu back to toolbox, always open window in the way
Last modified: 2010-10-23 15:35:01 UTC
Instead of the always used toolbox menu there is some graphics in the current version. It would be good to have at least an option to put it back, because I cannot leave without it. Also there is a new window always open with the menu, but it is just occupying space. It is alway in the way, when just selecting thumbnails, icons, interface elements to edit, even taking screenshots it is not needed at all. I cannot imagine why it is there, except to hold the menu which is removed from it's best place. Please let us have the choice to disable these 2 "improvements", because after 2 weeks of intensive usage I had to put back the older Gimp version. (I stick all windows to each-other and this extra window is very annoying)
You are free to continue to use GIMP 2.4. Bugzilla is the wrong place to discuss these things, so I will not attempt to explain the reasons for these changes here. They are well documented in other places already.
Thank you, I was searching for Gimp forums to send the problem when the new version came out, but cannot find any in 10 minutes. I have very limited time, but decided take my time and post the problem somewhere. I think maybe Gimp would mimic the Photoshop interface and that's why these annoying changes happend. Good luck, I hope these changes will lead to a good end. Ed
