<city><name>Pune</name><coordinates>-18.53 73.85</coordinates><location><name>Pune International Airport</name><code>VAPO</code><coordinates>-18.3456 073.5511</coordinates></location></city> References :- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pune and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pune_International_Airport http://adds.aviationweather.gov/metars/stations.txt
Just came to know that VAPO station is inactive, so dunno what is to be done.
There is a daily snapshot one can get at http://www.imd.ernet.in/section/nhac/wch/mhpun.htm but don't think the info. is in a manner which you guys can use :(
If the VAPO station is inactive, what could GNOME do here? Guessing the weather? ;-)
there may be another weather station nearby which the entry for Pune could use
right, the other thing I do not know if VAPO is inactive or not, somebody told me (i.e. hearsay that its inactive) . I do not really know whether its inactive or not. So could somebody look and share if :- a. VAPO (PNQ) is active or inactive with some resource link to verify the same. b. As Dan Winship says, it is also possible to use some other weather station which might come up. c. More importantly, as now it has got metro city status it needs to have an entry in the database with coordinates and all (even if the weather issue is not resolved) http://www.sakaaltimes.com/2008/10/31004015/Pune-set-to-become-seventh-mem.html I know that the c. point I raised is a different issue but I dont' want to file another bug for the same. If need be, of course would do it. But you will have to guide me about against which package I should file the bug.
