Description Neil Jagdish Patel 2008-10-21 12:02:58 UTC
On small screens (< 1024px wide), it is very hard for users to add new applets to the panel if there is an EXPAND_MAJOR applet on the panel (like the window-picker-applet). It would be great if there was a way to invoke the "Add to Panel" dialog from an applet, so these applets could provide this option as part of their context menu.

This is what the XFCE panel does (adding "add applet" and "panel settings" to all menus), and it's definitely a good idea I think. Perhaps the whole panel menu should be appended to the applet menus, since none of it's items could otherwise be accessed in the circumstances described?

Could we please fix this? I urgently need it for my applet.
Hacking around with panel_applet_set_size_hints() to achieve this is just masochistic. :P

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
