GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 557214
Print function is not available (Windows XP/SP3)
Last modified: 2008-10-23 05:49:47 UTC
Please describe the problem: Since version 2.4.4, I had several times announced that the images could not be printed. Now, I have tested with the 2.6.1 version and it is always defective. If I can join a file in bugzilla, I send you a .pdf file with the result and hard-copy of the print command window (not conform with documentation). I hope to be able one day to use this beautiful tool GIMP ! Steps to reproduce: 1. very simple : print a GIMP file ... 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? yes, with a brother, a hp-deskjet, and with acrobat ... Other information: I am afraid it's no possible to send you the pdf file .... but if you send my your adress, I'll send you this file ....
Created attachment 121001 [details] print command window why do'nt accept .pdf file ?
What's needed is a Windows-based user who does invest some time into fixing the known bugs in GTK+. Otherwise nothing will change.
We would really appreciate some help with this problem, but filing more duplicates of the same bug report does not help. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 524615 ***
I'm sorry but I am not abble to help you, but perhaps you could examine the difference between the 2.4.4 release and the most recent ? There was no issue with the 2.4.4 release, and the question is : what changes are made ?
Printing is now done at a totally different place.
verdenal, the changes are in libraries that GIMP depends on (GTK+ and Cairo). The GIMP print plug-in basically does the same thing as in 2.4.
Hi Sven, Sorry, but I think your comment#6 is wrong: I use the 2.4.4 version for Windows XP, and you can trust me if I say that the Print command is OK, I have printed many projects. Regards, Serge. Sorry, my English is not perfect !
Verdenal, your GIMP 2.4 installation uses different versions of GTK+ and Cairo than your GIMP 2.6 installation.
