"For widescreen monitors, moving the filmstrip to the top of the window to a side would make a better use of the space and allow for the picture to be displayed at a bigger size.

I'm attaching two pictures: one screenshot of how the filmstrip is placed now, and one mockup of how it could be."

this patch makes the position of filmstrip configurable. not sure it's pretty clean, review needed...
