GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 551934
cannot paste an image when composing an email
Last modified: 2010-01-17 19:33:46 UTC
the bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/269330 "Hi, I would like to be able to paste an inline picture when composing an email, in the same way that you can do it on Windows with Outlook or Thunderbird. Is this something that you are planning to work on soon? - open GIMP Image editor - copy an image using CTRL+C - Under Evolution, select "new email" - Inside the "compose message" window, try to paste the image that you previously copied. Nothing happens... Thanx for your help! Evolution is a great product. I just think that a lot of people would enjoy this feature."

exactly the same 'problem' here...the image on the clipboard does get pasted in for example OpenOffice Writer, so is is on the clipboard but does not get pasted in a new e-mail (composer window) of Evolution. I for instance use "shutter" to get a screenshot from an area...edit it and copy/paste it into another program.
This is working in 2.29. In HTML mode the image will be embedded into the HTML content, in plain text mode the image will be added as an attachment. See bug #603715 for more details and discussion. Closing this as obsolete.
