GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 548754
Conversations should appear in a new window when started
Last modified: 2009-11-18 10:28:30 UTC
Currently, new conversations are reflected in a flashing notification area icon when a friend sends a message. However, at least when my status is available, I want new conversations to show in a new window. I can see why, if I were away, holding them until I get back would be desireable (not that I want that).
I second that, in the form of: I like it very much when pidgin/gaim/whatever its name now starts a new chat then it opens a new window right into my face. I tend to notice these. I tend *not* to notice a small flashing thingy in the tray area, and got bitten many times by "why didn't you answer my question" problem. Naturally many do not prefer that, so this should be in prefer-ences :)
I agree. The flashing in the notification are sometimes is not enought. Adding this is preferences would be a major improvement.
Nothing on this question ? Why not directly open a new tab/window conversation ?
Any information about this? Is there the possibility to see another notification's behavior implemented as an option (when a new conversation is started -> A) notify in the indicator's applet B) open chat in background C) open chat in foreground)?
