GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 548352
When the backend doesn't work for the playback, poor information is given
Last modified: 2020-03-17 08:20:00 UTC
Please describe the problem: Right now I'm having some problems with my gstreamer backend to play MP3. Ok, it's not Banshee's fault, but the only message that Banshee shows is: [Error 12:48:38.277] GStreamer stream error: Failed However, at least in debug mode (when running trunk with "make run") it should show relevant information, such as the one I see in other gstreamer player: (christine:20738): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin '/usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.10/libgstequalizer.so': /usr/lib64/libgstaudio-0.10.so.0: undefined symbol: gst_base_sink_wait_clock (christine:20738): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin '/usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.10/libgstrtsp.so': /usr/lib64/libgstrtp-0.10.so.0: undefined symbol: gst_event_has_name Steps to reproduce: 1. Run Banshee in debug mode with a broken backend. Actual results: Poor info is shown in the console: [Error 12:48:38.277] GStreamer stream error: Failed Expected results: It should show more meaningful info about the backend error. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information:
Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/Infrastructure/issues/264 for more info.
