Description Michael Monreal 2008-08-18 15:17:13 UTC
Requested on IRC:

Banshee should be able to handle playing external playlists (m3u). Same use-case as playing files which are not part of the library (in the local queue).

UI-wise, it would be nice if m3u playlists would display as child sources of the local queue.
Comment 1 Frank Ziegler 2011-02-10 02:42:59 UTC
seems to be long fixed?

I can open a .m3u playlist and it is added as a child source of the file system queue.

Frank, that's weird, do you really do the same steps written in bug 612515?

Comment 4 Frank Ziegler 2011-02-21 01:16:18 UTC
I repeat the steps as following:

Scenario A
==========

1. Ensure to have the Banshee Music Player not running and the File System Queue
   was cleared before the last exit
2. In Nautilus right click on a .m3u playlist outside of the Banshee library and
   choose open with... banshee media player

Result: Banshee Media Player opens and the playlist is added to the File System
        Queue as new child playlist and Banshee starts playing it

Scenario B
==========

1. Have the Banshee Media Player Running, File System Queue cleared
2. In Nautilus right click on a .m3u playlist outside of the Banshee library and
   choose open with... banshee media player

Result: The playlist is added to the File System Queue in Banshee Media Player as
        new child playlist and Banshee starts playing it

Preconditions:
==============

In order for this to work, you have to have the File System Queue extension
enabled in the Preferences. I could reproduce the "Banshee does nothing"
behaviour with the FSQ not enabled!

I closed bug 612515 as INVALID instead of a DUPE of this one because I cannot reproduce it anymore (that is, what Frank says works).

Michael, can you provide more info on the issue then?
