Banshee supports playing podcasts without downloading the episodes first, which is very cool. But after watching a few episodes the banshee process is a few hundred mb in size. From a few tests it seems to grow about 50mb per watched episode (episodes are ~10 min of video).

This may also be true for audio, but I have not tried this.
