GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 544248
Horizontal arrow icons for Previous/Next page
Last modified: 2008-07-24 10:30:18 UTC
[ From http://bugs.debian.org/488137 by Eric Cooper <ecc@cmu.edu> ] Unless Evince is used with Continuous mode, using vertical arrows to indicate going forward / backward in a document doesn't make much sense. At least not if it is being used as a metaphor for turning a page. The bug submitter suggested either using horizontal arrows, or changing between horizontal and vertical depending on the mode used.
I'm sorry, but this is deliberate. Changing UI images depending on the context/mode is also considered to be bad UI practice (decreases interface familiarity). So, it will stay as it is right now. Note that Mac OSX does the same, btw. See bug #170081 for more information.
