Description eric225125 2008-07-17 02:07:54 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I get tearing in xv accelerated video playback when using metacity's compositor. I'm using nouveau's drivers with my 6800gt. I have talked to the driver guys and they say the problem is with the compositor.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Turn on metacity's compositor.
2. Play a video using xv acceleration in a media player such as mplayer.
3.

Actual results:
I get tearing.

Expected results:
To have the frames synced properly.

Does this happen every time?
Yes.

i can confirm, that this happens (also using nouveau); not that this is metacity's fault ;).

this is on a nv44-based card

Although it doesn't look like it from the descriptions, the solution is the same as 518712: We need to turn off compositing for full screen windows.
