GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 540788
Save dialog "Save" button sometimes doesn't works properly
Last modified: 2013-06-28 11:26:19 UTC
Please describe the problem: When trying to save a file, sometimes when I press the "Save" button instead of saving the file in the current directory it enters to the selected subdirectory. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the save file dialog 2. Browse to a directory with some subdirectories 3. Press the "Save" button Actual results: Instead of saving the file in the directory it enters to one subdirectory. Expected results: Save the file in the current directory Does this happen every time? No, it only happen when you have a subdirectory selected, sometimes this happens without you selecting it but just entering the directory. Other information:
Reassigning to GTK+.
This bug drives me nuts on a fairly regular basis, I think the usual scenario is when you want to save a file in the parent directory of the default directory (the one which is displayed when the file selector is first shown): clicking on the parent in the path bar (is that the right terminology?) changes directory but leaves the subdir selected, so clicking save changes to the subdir instead. However, this doesn't happen consistently - it's only a problem if the focus is on the file list and not the file name entry box, and I don't understand why this is sometimes different. Is it something to do with the application behaviour? I'm currently using Ubuntu 8.04.2, GTK 2.12.9 (+ubuntu patches.) I'll try to test on a more recent release soon, and file a matching bug in the Ubuntu bugtracker ..
