GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 540478
Add an apply button to network-admin
Last modified: 2012-11-24 20:27:50 UTC
Hi, Please consider using the attached patch to switch to an "apply" button for network-admin to try and prevent users from accidentally screwing up their network. Thanks, James
Created attachment 113527 [details] [review] Patch to implement this feature.
From what I've tested, it seems that your button does not remember what location is currently active; it should return to grey when you go back to that location. The current behavior is confusing, and that did not help testing. Anyway, the idea is nice! The sad thing is that I don't know if network-admin has a future at all, or if it will be superseded by NetworkManager. Do you feel it's worth updating your patch?
Hi, I agree, I don't think it is worth my effort to do this. Thanks, James
I've just understood that the patch is already used in Ubuntu - so I guess it kind of working anyway. ;-) If you consider it's worth being applied downstream, I have to consider it upstream too, I don't see why there should be any difference in that regard. Maybe I'll commit it as-is, if you think that can be an improvement.
According to its developer(s), gnome-system-tools is not under active development anymore. Functionality has been mostly integrated into GNOME Control Center / "[System] Settings". It is unlikely that there will be any further active development. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping - Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
