GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 540084
gedit freezes if unable to remote save
Last modified: 2008-11-01 16:47:41 UTC
Please describe the problem: When remotely connected, gedit freezes when saving a file if the server cannot be reached for any reason (at least through gvfs). Steps to reproduce: 1. Connect to a remote ftp (only tested sftp) 2. Edit a file 3. Unplug your internet cable/key 4. Right after that, save Actual results: Gedit dies in a slow, painful, atrocious way (and data is eventually lost) Expected results: Gedit should survive just like all the other proud warriors did. Does this happen every time? Yes Other information: n/a
Is this a dupe of ? http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=536614 This bug refers only to file access via ~/.gvfs/share on server/ - if gedit is dying with normal "sftp://servername/" operation, then it's not a dupe. Any output from dmesg / syslog ?
It happened with gvfs, indeed, so it's likely a dupe.
I am marking this as a dupe then. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 536614 ***
