GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 532917
Regional options settings
Last modified: 2008-08-25 15:12:35 UTC
I would like to have the possibility so change the regional options (like monetary, paper size, time and date formats...) from within Gnome. Many users from outside USA prefer the operating system and interface language to be in english and the regional options for their own country. I prefer en_US (GUI) and sv_SE (regional options). To force a user to change user interface language to get regional settings correct is not good. The only way I have found to achieve this today is to edit the /etc/environment file. This is not user friendly. Please add this feature to Gnome as it would greatly improve it's useability. In some cases it is even useless without this feature...
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 154085 ***
I do not agree that this bug has been resolved. Neither that is is a duplicate of above mentioned bug. The referenced bug only talks about time zones. That is not what I requested as an enhancement. Will there ever be an option to have one interface language and settings from another? Windows can do this. Mac OS X can do this. KDE can do this! Why can't gnome do this! DO NOT MARK THIS AS SOLVED OR DUPLICATE IF IT'S NOT! If you wont fix it then just say so and do not pretend...
For the love of ... add a comment to the other bug that you would like to see other regional settings like this addressed as well. Opening separate bugs for each and every tiny enhancement request is not going to help keep the bug database in a manageable state. AND DO NOT YELL. I can hear you very well, thank you. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 154085 ***
