Description Andrés G. Aragoneses (IRC: knocte) 2008-05-12 10:52:47 UTC
When resize2fs fails with this error:
"Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while trying to resize", gparted gives no clue about the problem, giving the advice of reporting the save_details.htm file to the devs.

Expected results:
Should, at least, recommend a 'e2fsck -cc' operation (which solved my issue). Ideally, gparted should tell the user something like 'The resize operation could not be completed due most likely to bad sectors in the disk. You should run a Full Verification operation before retrying', and then have a new 'Full verification' option on the contexual menu of a partition, that warns the user about starting an very long operation that checks all partition sectors but is non-destructive.

Thank you Andrés for this bug report.

I saw your message on a mailing list and have added the information below for when I look into your suggested enhancement.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time.

If you still use gparted and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a recent and currently supported version, then please feel free to report it at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gparted/-/issues/
by following the guidelines at
https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented so far (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
