GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 531820
Move navigation view widgets around?
Last modified: 2010-06-21 10:06:16 UTC
There was an interesting section of a forum thread on http://ubuntuforums.org that was talking about the new Intrepid Ibex theme, and one interesting idea that arose was to adjust the way Nautilus' Navigation view is so that it takes up less space and is more user-friendly. Someone made a very nice mockup of the idea and it seems like it would be very simple to implement. Perhaps this could be a Gnome-Love project even? Created attachment 110480 [details] The great mockup I think this is an excellent image of how Nautilus could change for the better. The sidebar is not that important for this bug; it's mainly the top part. Removing an entire line and saving space, while making it easier to pick out icons, this would really help users and give Nautilus a cleaner interface.
I really agree with this bug. Things could not only change for the better of users in programs (like Nautilus) layouts, but should. Please take the time to read one of my more informational idea posts about the design and layout of Nautilus in the Ubuntu forums. Link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4849845&postcount=33 - I'm no programmer, but I am willing to help this summer with collaborating ideas on working to make this stuff better, and to have it come true.
Thanks for the bug report. There are some good ideas here. Some are covered by other bugs, others are present in current redesign efforts. I'm marking this as a duplicate, but these ideas are being strongly considered. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 615549 ***
