I have a CD in which each artist is different. It is shown as 5 different. It would be nice if they could be merged into one album.

I vote for that. There are recopilations, soundtracks, etc. which contain songs from different artists. I think Amarok has solved that smartly (and I think is the only player that does it) adding an option when you right-click in a disc to mark it as 'Various artists'.
