GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 530112
Offer option to adjust CD rip speed
Last modified: 2008-04-29 09:32:00 UTC
It would be helpful if the Sound Juicer preferences interface had an option for adjusting the ripping speed -- I'm getting (very occasional) clicks in ripped tracks, and I'm interested in slowing down the ripping speed to see if they can be avoided. The rip speed preferences could appear the format preferences, with the following layout: Ripping speed: ( ) 1x ( ) 2x ( ) 4x ( ) 8x ( ) Maximum The ( )'s denote radio buttons. Thanks for considering! - Mike
Several problems with this. cdparanoia and cdio can both rip as fast as possible but have ways of improving the error checking which is unrelated to the rip speed. If the disk has a scratch on then it doesn't matter if you rip at 1x, you'll still get a scratch. What you actually want to do is to activate more error checking/correction. If the options were for error correction and not rip speed you'd need to rip the album many times, each time listening to the music and changing the settings until you get no errors. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 166574 ***
