GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 527238
Some problems with new chars of UCD 5.1
Last modified: 2008-07-09 10:20:14 UTC
Attached is a screen-shot of U+0619 ARABIC SMALL DAMMA. This is a transparent character, not is not shaped like ascii "W". Behdad, any idea where the problem is? Also seems UCD files has new syntax for comments, here Notes section, which makes the link and it's following text look bad. Any idea what to do in this situations?
Created attachment 108957 [details] U+0618 ARABIC SMALL FATHA U+0618 ARABIC SMALL FATHA, which should not be shaped as "G".
No idea.
Shouldn't this be re-assigned to pango ?
Behnam, can you reproduce this with pango-view?
pango-view --text="ؙ" (U+0619) shows the problem too -> pango.
Can't reproduce here. Can you figure out which buggy font it's using? Use pmap.
Interstingly, it chooses FreeSansBold (from ttf-freefont 20060501cvs-12 on hardy). Updating to ttf-freefont 20080323-3 'fixes' it, gucharmap and pango-view now show only a hexbox.
