What were you doing when the application crashed? I openend a folder in a samba share on another machine Distribution: Debian lenny/sid Gnome Release: 2.22.0 2008-03-14 (Debian) BugBuddy Version: 2.22.0 System: Linux 2.6.24-1-486 #1 Mon Feb 11 13:52:45 UTC 2008 i686 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10300000 Selinux: No Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Clearlooks Icon Theme: gnome Memory status: size: 96972800 vsize: 96972800 resident: 38137856 share: 17010688 rss: 38137856 rss_rlim: 4294967295 CPU usage: start_time: 1207677977 rtime: 3748 utime: 3279 stime: 469 cutime:94 cstime: 43 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 100 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/nautilus' (no debugging symbols found) Using host libthread_db library "/lib/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". I can reproduce the crash, but only with this one folder. All the other folders in the samba share open without problems. The folders name doesn't contain any rare letters (like umlauts).
Found out that nautilus always crashes when I wanna open a folder in the samba-share that contains a *.doc file. On my own system nautilus doesn't crash but it also doesn't know any default application (OOorg or abiword) to open the file (This is new, I think it came with my last update of some gnome apps/libs).
It is gnome 2.22 but still nautilus 2.20.
In the samba-share nautilus not only crashes with folders containing any *doc file, but also when it's *docx or *xls. All these file types have in common that nautilus on my own system "forgot about them", i.e. describes them as "unknown filetype" (which he didn't do until a few days ago).
