GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 525932
Unhelpful "Error while Filtering Selected Messages."
Last modified: 2012-12-03 15:36:17 UTC
Attempting to filter some messages, I get the following unhelpful message: Error while Filtering Selected Messages. No provider available for protocol `email' Firstly, `' should not be used for quotes. Secondly, this message means virtually nothing to the user, and is completely unhelpful in providing any clue into what the problem is.
not really a bug, see http://www.go-evolution.org/FAQ#Why_do_I_get_the_message_.22No_provider_available_for_protocol_email..22.3F
The only issue being that I haven't recently done anything described on that page. Anyway, my bug report was mainly about the message itself, rather than the cause. I'll fix the bug description to specify this more clearly.
Also see bug 579315 about the issue itself.
Created attachment 230536 [details] [review] evo patch for evolution; This changes the message to: Failed to filter selected messages. One reason can be that folder location set in one or more filters is invalid. Please check your filters in Edit->Message Filters.\n Original error was: ... which, I hope, is more descriptive. It does that only for errors about invalid URIs, not for all.
Created commit b9b56d3 in evo master (3.7.3+)
