GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 525573
Floppy drive label icon changes to "1,5 GB Media" and don't go back to "Floppy Drive" anymore
Last modified: 2016-10-19 13:42:59 UTC
The bug has been described on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/206860 "When I unmount the floppy disk, the floppy drive is not named "Floppy drive" anymore: it's named "1,5 MB Media". Steps to reproduce: 1. Insert a floppy disk in the drive. 2. Click on it to mount it. 3. Unmount it (with right-click and selecting "Unmount"). Expected behavior: The floppy disk icon says "Floppy Drive", like in the beginning (i.e. before you mount any floppy disk). Actual behaviour: The floppy disk icon still says "1,5 GB Media", as it says before unmount it. The icon will never be "Floppy Drive" anymore."
Any news about this bug? The problem is still in my GNOME 2.22.3.
Why is the status on this still listed as unconfirmed? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/206860 and the two duplicates to that bug: Bug #253842 and Bug #330577 verify multiple reports. There is an added critical side affect of this bug not being fixed: the floppys' correct volume name is not shown in nautilus. This has resulted in writing data to the wrong floppy. Still present in Ubuntu jaunty 2.6.28-13-generic.
Hal volume is obsolete currently. If you see this issue also with udisks2 volume monitor, please file a bug for udisks2 volume monitor...
