GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 524723
Orca should recognize (and speak) column headers in OOo Writer tables
Last modified: 2018-02-08 12:56:33 UTC
Given a Writer table with defined column headers, it would be handy if Orca would automatically announce those headers as a user changed columns (just like we do in Gtk trees and tables). Unfortunately we cannot do this because the column headers in Writer documents are not exposed as actual headers for the columns. :-( I've opened an enhancement request against Writer here: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=87532
Changing the status from 'blocked' to 'to verify' because the blocking bugs are marked as fixed. Note: Verification doesn't necessarily mean that Orca is doing the right thing yet; merely that in theory we should be able to implement what we need to do because we're getting the expected events and/or other information from OOo.
Cannot verify this yet. The bug still exists in OOo dev 3.3 m76. But based on experience, it takes a few dev builds for these changes to get incorporated into an externally-available build.
I can verify this using the a11y test build given to me by the OOo guys. We will still need to do work on our end to cause this information to be presented. Therefore unblocking.
