Description Dori 2008-03-11 21:53:28 UTC
Gimp doesn't read or doesn't save the Exif data present in TIFF files. If I open a TIFF with Exif embedded and save as JPEG the metadata is completely stripped out. For example in these two files:

Original file:
$ exiv2 pr img_1553.tif
File name       : img_1553.tif
File size       : 5796750 Bytes
Camera make     : Canon
Camera model : Canon PowerShot A70
Image timestamp : 2004:04:05 11:52:56
Image number    :
Exposure time   : 1/1000 s
Aperture        : F5.6
Exposure bias   : 0
Flash           : No, compulsory
Flash bias      :
Focal length    : 5.4 mm
Subject distance:
ISO speed       :
Exposure mode   :
Metering mode   :
Macro mode      :
Image quality   :
Exif Resolution : 1200 x 1600
White balance   :
Thumbnail       : TIFF, 32540 Bytes
Copyright       :
Exif comment    :

File saved in Gimp:
$ exiv2 pr img_1553.jpg
img_1553.jpg: No Exif data found in the file

It would really help if it got included as it saves me from having to use exiv2 to reinsert it from the original file.

Thanks
