Description edward hvarregaard 2008-03-07 18:10:48 UTC
Documentation
Section: help files Multiple Split Transaction
It tells generaly what might or could happen if ... I think it would be alot better if the documentation assumed that the user, who , on reading these instructions, actually wanted to make a split transaction.

Correct version:
It should give detailed step by infinitismally small step instructions on HOW TO MAKE A MULTIPLE SPLIT TRANSACTION. Over the last week or so I have tried many times to enter a split in my cash account. Every time there were problems of some kind. What I would like to see is this
1 hit the split key
2 enter the date (remember it for the split) tab
3 enter the cheque num tab
4 enter the description ( remember it for the split) tab
5 enter the exp account ( remember it for the split) tab
6 "buy and sell" not needed KISS
7 forget about unbalance and the 3rd line. start the actual balance column off at zero and let it reflect the amount total after each entry.
8 move cursor to the first split transaction line
9 date (already entered) edit or tab
10 description (already entered) edit or tab
11 expense account ( already entered) edit or tab
12 use DEBITS and CREDITS instead of constantly changing column names This will greatly simplify documentation and programming and EVERYTHING
13 enter amount in the debit or credit column - Balance Changes tab
14 new line enter next transaction
15 last entry tab to next line press ENTER or SPLIT to complete split
program uses the total balance colume amount to complete the debit or credit entry to balance the cash account
16 plan for and allow additional future entries.
17 PS why should you listen to me ?
a: I have done some programming pascal
b: I am a High School trained bookkeeper

thank you Edward Hvarregaard
