Description Randy Thomson 2008-03-02 02:11:27 UTC
O/S Windows XP SP2
DSL Internet connection

On multiple attempts to use Open Location with a URI, on more than one image at more than one website, gimp-24.exe consistently crashed when the Open button was clicked. Attempts were made by copying and pasting the image URI from the browser, and by entering the URI by hand.
Comment 1 Sven Neumann 2008-03-02 16:31:11 UTC
Something appears to be broken in the Window build of the URI plug-in.
Comment 2 Sven Neumann 2008-03-06 08:04:57 UTC
How did you paste the URL? This could very well be another duplicate of bug #514906.
Comment 3 Randy Thomson 2008-03-06 18:48:01 UTC
On second look, you are correct. Apparently there was operator error on my end when I did the initial check. I thought I had done both copy and paste, and manual entry, with crashes in both cases, but I must have fat-fingered something.

I have confirmed that the problem only occurs with right-click paste. Manual entry and Ctrl-V paste (after right-click Copy Image Location in Firefox) both work OK.

Sorry about that. I'm closing this report, as a duplicate of 514906.
