GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 519469
Option to switch OFF sound completly while keeping video communications
Last modified: 2008-04-03 17:34:39 UTC
The idea is to preserve the bandwidth for Video-only transmissions. The ability to switch OFF the sound, both at EMISSION and at RECEPTION is particularly desirable for Deaf people. A better implementation would request the peered-client to switch OFF its sound emission. Muting the microphone or muting the sound on the client software doesn't result in stopping the transmitted audio stream. c.f. mailing-list discussion http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-accessibility-list/2008-February/msg00096.html
This can be achieved by disselecting all audio codec plugins in SVN trunk The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
